Patience is a Virtue

When the game is beginning, and the adrenaline is in full swing, you may have the urge to dive right into the action; however, we would heavily advise against this. As tempting as it is to follow those players who are first off the Battle Bus, try and fall back a little. Waiting to drop into the map can offer you a little distance between yourself and your enemies. This will give you the chance to get your hands on some protection and weapons. Also, try to head for a point of interest rather than a random location; this will offer you a greater chance of obtaining ammo and weapons.

Keep your ears open

Fortnite has been blessed with some impressive audio, meaning you can hear the direction in which enemies are approaching. This can give you a better chance at securing kills as you can lie in wait for opponents to make themselves seen. Use the audio to your advantage, and make sure to keep an ear out. For example, if you hear a shotgun shot in the distance, make sure you keep a watchful eye and follow the sound. You can get some serious kills this way!

Practice Makes perfect

Fortnite is a game with many things to be learned, and practice is a crucial factor in getting your skills up to the point that allows you to keep those Victory Royalescoming! So, let's take a look at some of the areas you need to get the practice in to make for an epic game:

Aiming

As with most things in Fortnite, it is a case of ‘practice makes perfect when it comes to your aim too. Take some time to get your aim up to standard. You can do this just like building in creative or playground. Make sure to read up on your weapons, get educated on the damage they inflict, and understand which are most effective in which scenario. Once you have done so, get more accustomed to these weapons in these scenarios and watch your skill set soar! Why not test your skill set? See how many targets you can down in a ten-second period without reloading.

Another good way for players to get their aim skills up is to practice using mini-games such as "Zone Wars" and "Sniper One Shot.". Playing these games with friends means you can test out your aims and the accuracy of your shot rate. Doing so will also tell you how far you have dealt damage, how long it took you to hit your target, and whether you are a consistent shot.

Building

The first thing you'll need to do to ensure you're ready to build is farm materials. It is best to do this early on in the match for a few reasons: you are going to need these materials for your builds throughout the match, so having them on hand is essential. Secondly, you don't want to be left without these much-needed materials. Finally, builds can play a key part in helping a player get their win, so make sure you are stocked and your building skills are ready to be put to work!

For the best opportunity to learn, try playing in creative and playgrounds. This will allow you to observe others and their methods and develop your own building strategy. Some players even recommend using a timer to see just how fast they can create these much-needed structures. Give it a go for yourself and see how quickly you can build!

Make sure you also get to grips with the basic shapes in building; you will need to keep these in mind. As in situations when you are down to the final 5 in a solo match, you will often have to build a 1x1 cube. However, if you aren't familiar with the following builds, you will just be a sitting duck:

Four squares on a wall edited - open door.

Two squares on the bottom two rows - door.

Having these builds in mind can offer a vantage point for sniping the other remaining players, in turn, getting you that win!

Practice the MAP technique

Memorize -your building inputs

Accelerate - your building speeds

Practice - to improve your builds

90s

You may be asking yourself, "What are '90s in Fortnite?" Don't worry; we're here to answer! 90s is a technique that has quickly become one of the fastest ways to build vertically in the game. This will allow players to take the high ground and provide them with cover from their enemies.

The name "90s" was given to this specific build due to the method in which it is built. There is a 90-degree turn required for this build to work and take on its appearance. So, let's take a look at another question that players often ask, that question being, "How do I do ‘90s in Fortnite?"

How to build 90s

There are a few methods to build 90s, but let's take a look at the most basic methods to get you started. Before taking on this build, players should keep in mind that 90s are supposed to work with other building techniques, and you can not build more than four in a row without jump lag. With this in mind, let's move on to how to build 90's in Fortnite:

The first thing you will need to do is build a ramp and run to the top. Once you have done this, you will need to build a wall at the top of the ramp, then turn to the side and build another wall. You will then need to jump in the air, building a ramp to catch you. This ramp should take you to the top of the last wall you built. From there, simply repeat the process.

Keep in mind that, like most things, this technique takes practice. Though it is the most basic method to build 90s, it still has a learning curve. When you get a handle on the technique, you should be able to turn quickly during the build without the risk of falling. You will then be able to get into the swing of adding additional floors and walls to add support.

Find the correct weapons for you

As soon as you land on the island, you will need to make sure you get your hands on a decent arsenal. Carrying a range of weapons, such as a Shotgun, SMG, Sniper Rifle, Assault Rifle, etc., means that you will have a variety of weapons to choose from, but you will also be able to identify which weapons are best suited to you. Make sure to familiarise yourself with your weapons if you want to truly better your experience; this will allow you to better understand which weapons are best suited to which scenario.

Upgrade your weapons

Once you have found your footing in the game, you will want to better the weapons you have found work best for you. Upgrading your weapons when you have the chance will definitely benefit your gameplay. You can carry out any needed upgrades by heading to one of the "Upgrade Benches"that are found all throughout the map. In order to pay for these upgrade services, you will need to acquire Gold Bars. You can get these Gold Bars using these methods:

Complete Bounties

Searching Safes and Cash Registers

Destroy washing machines

Eliminate opponents

Change things up a little

All games have their average starting point for players; there is always a baseline, whether that be controls, weapons, stats, etc. While that may be great for some, and offers players a fair playing field, sometimes these things just don't work for specific individuals. So, let's take a look at some of the things you can change to make your Fortnite experience the best it can be.

Different devices

Fortnite is available on many platforms, from Xbox, and Playstation, all the way through to Mobile. Though all of your friends may be PC gamers, perhaps that is not suitable for you? Not everyone has the same skill sets or ideology of the perfect game. So, if you face difficulty getting those wins, why not try a different device? You may find that Mobile is the way to go!

Control Sensitivity

Playing around with controls is hardly a new concept, but it is one that often gets forgotten. So, as evident of a suggestion as this tip may seem, don't be so quick to rule it out. Instead, why not try tinkering with your control sensitivity? You may find that your gaming experience gets way better with a few slight adjustments.
